Tom Sleigh, SBEG’s Chair, announced as co-chair of Mayor’s new Cultural Leadership Board
SBEG congratulates Tom Sleigh on his appointment as co-chair of the Mayor of London’s Cultural Leadership Board.
With culture a cornerstone of the Mayor’s London Growth Plan, the Mayor’s new Cultural Leadership Board’s priorities are to help steer the delivery of the aims outlined in the Plan, shape the Mayor’s Cultural Strategy, and advise on key issues facing the creative industries.
Tom will bring his considerable experience of working with a wide range of cultural organisations, having previously been Chair of the Barbican, and his work with Southbank Centre, BFI, National Theatre, and The Old Vic who are all SBEG members. Culture is fundamental to London’s economic growth, and effective partnerships between cultural organisations and other growth sectors identified in the Growth Plan can drive creativity, innovation and investment.
The Cultural Leadership Board represents a wide and diverse range of expertise and knowledge including sustainability and environment, place-making and regeneration, health and wellbeing, heritage and museums, London at night, and AI and future technologies.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I’m delighted to announce the members of my Cultural Leadership Board. The Board brings together an invaluable range of knowledge and experience. Culture is a key part of London’s success, and we will continue to do all we can to increase access to culture and support artists, venues and workspaces as we build a better London for everyone.”
Tom Sleigh, Chair of South Bank Employers’ Group, said: “London’s cultural heartbeat is the rhythm of its people - diverse, dynamic, and daring.
